Four more see success at New Product Awards

Each year, the Retail Council of Canada (RCC) chooses the best in new grocery products out of selections from all over Canada.
The best products are chosen by a jury of industry experts on the basis of innovation and originality, product characteristics, presentation and packaging and overall consumer value. Federated Co-operatives Limited’s (FCL) Co-op Gold and Co-op Gold Pure products have won at the RCC Canadian Grand Prix New Product Awards ten times since 2016.
Now, the number of FCL’s best new products has jumped to 14.
At a virtual ceremony on June 3, 2021, the RCC chose four new Co-op Gold and Co-op Gold Pure products in the Private Label Food – Bakery Fresh, Deli Meats and Cheeses and Shelf-Stable Prepared Food categories, as well as Private Label Non-Food Household Products category. In 2021, FCL had been nominated in five categories.
“To have our products chosen in four out of our five nominated categories is an incredible honour,” said Sav Bellissimo, FCL Store Brands Manager. “These awards are a testament to the work of our Store Brands and Marketing Teams who create world-class products right here in Western Canada. And of course, we couldn’t do this work without our local Co-ops, who embrace and promote the new products for their members and customers to enjoy.”

Co-op Gold Croissant Loaf (Private Label Food – Bakery Fresh)
The Co-op Gold Croissant Loaf is an indulgent comfort food. Produced by a small bakery in Delta, B.C., it combines classic croissant dough into a sliceable bread loaf, elevating your sandwiches and transforming your French toast.
Co-op Gold Pure Cheese (Deli Meats and Cheeses category)
Co-op Gold Pure cheeses are handcrafted on a family-run, on-farm cheese plant in St. Mary’s, Ontario. They’re made using fresh, unpasteurized milk from the farm’s happy Holstein cows and goats.
Co-op Gold Pure Pasta (Shelf-Stable Prepared Foods and Entrees category)
All Co-op Gold Pure pasta is made with just two simple ingredients: high-quality durum wheat semolina and water. Quality, tradition and taste are the hallmarks of this pasta.
Co-op Gold Pure Concentrated Pods (Household Products category)
Co-op Gold Pure concentrated cleaning pods are a new, environmentally friendly way of cleaning your home. Just drop a pod in a reusable plastic bottle, fill with water and gently shake to prepare the cleaning solution. The reduced water weight significantly reduces this product’s carbon footprint during the shipping process.
FCL has won at the Grand Prix New Product Awards for ten other products since 2016, including Co-op Gold Honey Dill Chips, Co-op Gold Pure Walleye and Northern Pike and Co-op Gold Pure Soaps.
