CO-OP ETHANOL COMPLEX

The Co-op Ethanol Complex (CEC), formerly Terra Grain Fuels, is an ethanol production facility near Belle Plaine, Sask. Since its construction in 2008, it has made a significant economic impact in southern Saskatchewan.

The facility adds to Co-op's unique, mutually beneficial relationship with producers  serving and supplying their needs while also directly and indirectly purchasing their products.

Ethanol

The CEC annually produces up to 150 million litres of ethanol, which is blended into CO-OP® Fuels at the Co-op Refinery Complex. Ethanol is a renewable, low-carbon fuel that helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions in transportation fuels.

The CEC purchases grains, primarily wheat and other starch-rich crops, from producers. Producers may select from two types of contracts.

PRODUCTION CONTRACT

Made on new crops before the growing season with delivery scheduled following harvest

DRIED DISTILLERS' GRAIN

Dried distillers' grain (DDG) is a premium product resulting from the ethanol-production process. DDGs are an excellent energy and protein source for a range of livestock, including beef cattle, dairy cattle, swine and poultry. They're often used to supplement feed rations and complement silage and poor hay crops.

The CEC primarily uses wheat as a feedstock in its ethanol production; however, other grains and starch-rich crops may be used. Because of this, the nutritional values of our DDGs are subject to change. Discuss the use of DDGs with your local animal nutritionist.
