Imagine Canada recognizes FCL as 2020 Caring Company

August 12, 2020

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is proud to be recognized as a national leader in community engagement and corporate giving with a 2020 Caring Company designation.

This recognition is awarded to companies that donate an annual minimum of one per cent of their pre-tax profit to non-profit and charitable organizations. FCL donated $10.5 million to charities and communities in the 2019 fiscal year.

“The Caring Company designation is a great achievement in corporate social responsibility and an encouraging reminder of our commitment to building sustainable communities together,” said Pam Skotnitsky, Vice-President of Strategy.

“Maintaining our Caring Company status is in alignment with and an active demonstration of our co-operative values and our responsibility and privilege to care for others in the communities that we serve.”

This is the fourth consecutive year that FCL has received the Caring Company designation administered by Imagine Canada, a national charity advocacy organization. The recognition places FCL alongside major Canadian companies who have invested in social impacts, such as Telus, CIBC, MEC and Loblaw Companies Limited.

Our 2019 donations were generated through a combination of consumer-facing programs like Co-op Community Spaces, Fuel Good Day and the Co-op Give Card and initiatives led by FCL team members, such as FCL Community Investment Fund, FCL Community Builders and local office fundraisers.

While these donations included funds given by FCL on behalf of the CRS, the total does not reflect any independent donations made by local Co-ops within their communities. In addition to our financial giving, this total also includes in-kind food donations made by FCL Distribution Centres to local food banks.
