Heather Ryan is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL).

As CEO of FCL, Heather leads the overall strategic direction of one of Saskatchewan’s largest companies. Under Heather’s leadership, FCL will continue to take a forward-focused and values-based approach to doing business. Heather and her senior leadership team will continue to drive the business with a focus on the employee experience, local co-op relationships and operational excellence while ensuring FCL takes a leading role in the transition to the low carbon economy. Heather is a passionate leader who believes in the Co-op model and the benefits of being a different kind of business for communities across Western Canada.

Heather was officially appointed CEO on May 9, 2022. Heather first joined FCL in September 2013 as Director Human Resources Advisory Services. She was then promoted to Vice-President Human Resources in November 2015, before being appointed to the role of Vice-President Supply Chain in August 2021. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan and received her Chartered Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation in 2002.

Prior to joining FCL, Heather was employed by the Saskatchewan Research Council as the Manager of Organizational Development. Prior to that, she worked at POS Bio-Sciences where she held various positions, including Vice-President Operations and Corporate Affairs, Director of Business Development & Human Resources and Human Resources Manager. Heather also worked with Corning Cable Systems as a Human Resources Specialist and was previously employed with FCL from 1996 to 2000 in the positions of Human Resources Training Officer and Human Resources Officer.

Heather was a sessional lecturer at the Edwards School of Business in the Organizational Development Department from 2006 to 2014. In September 2023, Heather joined the STARS Board of Directors. Heather previously served as Chair for the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation Board, Director for the Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce, the Co-operative Superannuation Society (CSS), Agriculture Council of Saskatchewan and FoodTech Canada.

Heather and her husband Sean have two children, a son (Jack) and daughter (Rylee).
