Sharon Alford of Swan River, Man., was first elected to the FCL Board in 2013, and was elected Vice-Chair of the Board in 2019. She represents the 10 retail co-operatives in FCL’s District 13, which covers west-central Manitoba.
As an FCL Director, Sharon serves on the Board’s Governance and Human Resources Committees and is chair of the Credentials Committee and Code of Conduct and Ethics Committee. In addition, Sharon is the Board’s representative to Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada, Manitoba Cooperative Association and The Co-operators.
Sharon was first elected to the Board of Directors of Swan Valley Co-op in 2002, where she served on various committees and as President from 2004 to 2013.
Sharon holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba, where she majored in Economics, and a Diploma in Agriculture from Nova Scotia Agricultural College. In 2017, Sharon received her Professional Director designation following the successful completion of Governance Solutions’ Professional Director Certification Program.
Sharon and her husband, Wayne, operate a pedigreed seed business and grain farm.
