CO-OPERATION AMONG CO-OPERATIVES
Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC)
FCL participates in the larger co-operative sector through its membership in the Ottawa-based Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC). CMC strives to advance the co-operative economy by organizing co-op development, advocating with government and conducting research to improve public policy. CMC serves as a common table for co-operatives and mutuals in Canada. The organization also represents Canadian co-ops on the International Co-operative Alliance.
Canadian Co-operative Association
The Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA) aims to “establish and grow co-operatives internationally that build a better world.” It does this by sharing co-operative knowledge and experience, working with local organizations and co-operative federations around the world. CCA collaborates with the Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF), which fundraises and seeks volunteers for projects. FCL has made an ongoing commitment to the CDF on behalf of the Co-operative Retailing System.
Provincial Associations
FCL is a member of four provincial co-operative associations. They co-ordinate youth programs, educational activities and provincial government relations. For more information, see their websites:
