Robert Grimsrud of Estevan, Sask., was first elected to the FCL Board in 2019. He is one of the directors elected by District 3 which is comprised of 46 retails in Saskatchewan. Robert has primary responsibility for sixteen Retail members which are located in the southeastern part of the District.
As an FCL Director, Robert is on the Board’s Sustainability and Governance Committees. In addition, he is the Board’s representative to Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada and the Co-operative Superannuation Society.
Robert was on the Board of Southern Plains Co-op (formerly Estevan Co-op) for 24 years, retiring from the position in 2019. He served as President and Chair of the Board from 1997 to 2019.
Robert has been active in his community, serving on various organizations. Robert previously served as a Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Delegate, representing his district for three years. He is currently the treasurer of his local church in Estevan.
Robert grew up on the family farm south of Torquay, Sask. Robert, his wife, Pauline, and their two sons, Axel and Justis, now operate the farm, which has been in the family for over 110 years and has been a certified organic operation since 1999.
Robert attended the University of Saskatchewan where he earned degrees from the College of Commerce and College of Law. Robert has been a lawyer since 1991 and has been practising in Estevan since 1993. Pauline is also employed in Estevan and is involved in a number of organizations. Their sons also reside and work in Estevan.
