Robert Grimsrud of Estevan, SK, was first elected to the FCL Board in 2019 and was elected as Vice-Chair of the Board in 2022. He is one of the directors elected by District 3 which is comprised of 44 member co-ops in Saskatchewan. Robert has primary responsibility for fifteen member co-ops.
As an FCL Director, Robert is Chair of the Board’s Governance, Credentials and Code of Conduct and Ethics Committees and is a member of the Human Resources Committee. In addition, he represents FCL on the Board of Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada.
Robert was on the Board of Southern Plains Co-op (formerly Estevan Co-op) for 24 years, retiring from the position in 2019. He served as President and Chair of the Board from 1997 to 2019.
Robert has been active in his community, serving on various organizations over the years. Robert previously served as a Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Delegate, representing his district for three years.
Robert grew up on the family farm south of Torquay, SK. Robert, his wife, Pauline, and their two sons, Axel and Justis, now operate the farm, which has been in the family for over 110 years and has been a certified organic operation since 1999.
Robert attended the University of Saskatchewan where he earned degrees from the College of Commerce and College of Law. Robert has been employed in Estevan by Legal Aid Saskatchewan since 2000 and is currently General Counsel for the organization. Pauline is also employed in Estevan and is involved in a number of organizations. Their sons also reside and work in Estevan.
