Donna Smith of Stony Plain, AB was first elected to the FCL Board in 2020. She is one of the directors elected by District 1 which is comprised of 25 member co-ops in British Columbia and Alberta. Donna has primary responsibility for eight member co-ops.
Donna is the Chair of the Sustainability Committee and is the Board’s representative to the Alberta Community and Co-operative Association and The Co-operators.
Donna was first elected to the Board of North Central Co-operative Association Ltd. in 2011, holding the positions of Vice President and Chairperson of the Governance Committee, as well as a Delegate to the Resolutions Committee.
Donna has extensive experience working with local government and not-for-profits and holds certificates in non-profit management and local government administration. She has a strong dedication to community and serves on several non-profits in Stony Plain, including the Adult Learning and Literacy Association, the Stony Plain Library Capital Campaign Committee and KidSport Parkland.
Donna is self employed as a bookkeeper and on the side teaches adult education classes and supports non-profits in various fields, although she refers to herself as semi-retired.
Donna and her husband Don are proud parents of two daughters, two sons-in-law and five grandchildren and enjoy an active role in their family’s lives.
