Fuel Good Day raises $685K across Western Canada

October 10, 2019

The third annual Fuel Good Day on Sept. 17 has been the most successful to date with more than $685,000 raised across Western Canada.

On Fuel Good Day, Co-op donates a minimum of five cents from every litre of fuel sold at more than 400 participating Co-op Gas Bars to a local charity or non-profit organization. Select locations also donated $1 from the purchase of every Co-operative Coffee or Big Cool.

Fuel Good Day recipients – more than 180 organizations in 2019 – are selected by each of the local co-ops participating in the event. The diverse group of organizations range from an animal rescue in Chase, B.C., and food banks in the Edmonton area to funding a school playground in Norquay, Sask., and Special Olympics in Carman, Man.

Together, local co-ops and these groups collaborate on Fuel Good Day activities, whether that’s pumping gas and washing windows or hosting barbecues, pancake breakfasts, raffles and bake sales that contribute to the total amount.

Since its launch in 2017, Fuel Good Day has raised nearly $1.9 million for about 450 local groups and initiatives in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, northwestern Ontario and now the Northwest Territories.

Thank you for contributing to the success of our event.
