Donna Smith of Stony Plain, AB was first elected to the FCL Board in 2020. She is one of the directors elected by District 1 which is comprised of 25 member co-ops in British Columbia and Alberta. Donna has primary responsibility for nine member co-ops.
Donna is the Chair of the Sustainability Committee, a member of the Credentials Committee and is a Board representative to The Co-operators for the Alberta Region.
She was first elected to the Board of North Central Co-operative Association Ltd. in 2011, holding the positions of Vice President and Chairperson of the Governance Committee, as well as a Delegate to the Resolutions Committee.
Donna has completed Series 3 of the Director Development Program and holds her Co-op Director.D Designation. She is a graduate of Grant McEwan’s Non-profit Management and the University of Alberta Local Government Administration programs. Her passion for the community aligns with co-operatives and the communities they serve. Her current Board roles in the community are Finance Officer for the Adult Learning and Literacy Association and Grants Manger for KidSport Parkland. She is a self employed bookkeeper, teaches adult education classes and supports other non-profits in various volunteer roles.
Donna and her husband Don are proud parents of two daughters, two sons-in-law and five grandchildren and enjoy an active role in their family’s lives.
