Joe Bowhay of Mountain View County, Alta., was first elected to the Board of FCL in 2017. Joe is one of the directors elected by District 2 which is comprised of 21 retails in British Columbia and Alberta. Joe has primary responsibility for two Retail members which are located in the Calgary area of the District.
As an FCL Director, Joe participates on the Board’s Human Resources and Credentials Committees. In addition, he is the Board's representative to the Goldeye Foundation.
Joe was elected to the Westview Co-op Board of Directors in 2013 and served as the Co-operative’s President for three years.
After growing up on a dairy/mixed farm, Joe worked as a firefighter for the City of Calgary Fire Department for 32 years. At the time of his retirement, he held the position of Captain.
Joe has been very active in his community – organizing and participating in amateur sports and volunteering with youth groups. He has also served on multiple boards for most of the past decade, taking a number of related training seminars during that time.
Joe and his wife, Wanda, enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren, as well as wilderness camping and horseback riding.
