FCL invites applications for the position of Law, Student (temporary, up to 4 months) in our home office located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Reporting to Senior Corporate Counsel, the Law Student provides support to the Legal, Compliance and Governance Department by undertaking research projects, analyzing information and writing opinions and reports, reviewing, filing/submitting documents, preparing/drafting template documents, and supporting FCL legal counsel with various projects and tasks as assigned.
Reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel, responsibilities for this position include the following:
- Assist with legal research projects and other legal matters and day to day matters as assigned.
- Assist with the preparing and drafting of template documents and legal precedents.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as the filing, submitting and scanning documents.
- Handle confidential and personal information with discretion and ensure that a professional image is portrayed at all times in written and verbal communication with other Business Units and external parties.
- Act as a point of contact for other Business Units as and when required.
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will be currently enrolled and has completed their first year of a post-secondary Law program. Strong research skills, efficient time management/planning and excellent verbal and written communication skills is an asset.
