Russell Wolf of Red Deer County, Alta., was elected to the FCL Board in 2016. Russell was previously on the FCL Board from 1998 to 2010. He represents the seven retail co-operatives in FCL’s district 6, which covers parts of southern Alberta and southeast British Columbia.
As an FCL Director, Russell is a member of the Board’s Governance and Sustainability Committees. In addition, he is the Board’s representative to the Alberta Community and Co-operative Association.
Russell was elected to the Central Alberta Co-op Board of Directors in 2008, serving as the co-operative’s Vice-Chair for three years and as Chair of the Board for one year. Prior to that, Russell was on the Board of Spruce View Co-op for 16 years, serving as Vice-President for three years and as President for five years. Over the years, Russell has taken many training courses and seminars.
Russell has been very active in his community, sitting on numerous boards and is currently the President of a local church. In addition, Russell volunteers with the Angels of East Africa, which is a non-profit organization that operates orphanages in Ethiopia, Northern Uganda and South Sudan. In January 2017, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of this organization. Russell has also volunteered his time abroad for co-operative development work.
Russell operates a home renovation restoration company. Russell and his wife operated a mixed farm for 30 years. They have three children and three grandchildren.
