Potentier new CMC president

December 13, 2016

Congratulations to Doug Potentier, the Vice-Chair of FCL’s Board of Directors, on being elected as Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada’s (CMC) President and Chair of the Board.

“I’m honored and pleased to accept the leadership of CMC as we approach 2017, a momentous year in Canada and full of potential for the sector and for our organization” said Potentier in a statement.

“Canada’s 150th will cause all Canadians to reflect on how Canada has developed, and co-operatives and mutuals are a significant part of what built our country since even before confederation.  Today we have 9,000 co-operatives and mutuals from coast to coast to coast representing 18 million Canadian members and our growth will continue to build and address the needs of our communities.

From Victoria, B.C., Potentier was first elected as a director of Peninsula Co-op in 2001 and then elected to the FCL Board of Directors in 2008.

CMC is the national association which acts to improve the economic and regulatory environment for its co-operative and mutual members.
