Turnaround trailers arriving at the Co-op Refinery Complex

Additional trailers will arrive at the Co-op Refinery Complex (CRC) today. The trailers will house contractor personnel who will execute the refinery’s 2020 Turnaround that is set to begin in April.

These trailers are not our usual course of business for Turnaround, but their arrival had to be planned months in advance under our business continuity plan. The personnel coming to site are not temporary workers, they are the additional workers that are called on every year to help complete Turnaround. The annual mega-project is designed to complete extensive maintenance and capital upgrades that enhance the safety and reliability of the refinery and its equipment.

“Our annual Turnaround project is vitally important to our refinery as it allows us to repair and maintain our equipment for the safety and reliability of our operation,” said Gil Le Dressay, Vice-President of Refinery Operations. “Additionally, we must complete regulatory work in order to comply with legislation on an annual basis. Regardless of circumstances, which includes a labour disruption, we must be prepared to execute our Turnaround work each year.”

CRC Turnarounds are a major economic event in the City of Regina each year as millions of dollars are invested in the safety and reliability of the Refinery.  This investment creates major economic spinoffs for the community, including hundreds of temporary jobs and additional business for local suppliers.
