Smith, Healey named to Senior Leadership Team

- The appointment of Patrick Smith to the position of Vice-President Retail Operations is effective June 4, 2018.
Patrick was previously FCL’s Associate Vice-President Retail Operations in Winnipeg, a position he held beginning in June 2013. He also served as the General Manager of Interprovincial Co-operatives Limited (IPCO).
In his previous role, Patrick led a diverse regional organization which had direct relationships with 38 retail co-operative members of FCL across multiple business lines. As well, he oversaw FCL’s corporate food stores in Manitoba.
Patrick began his career in the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) as a student clerk at the North of 53 Co-op in Flin Flon, Man., in 1977 and later became Grocery Manager. He was then promoted to food manager positions at Moose Jaw Co-op and Estevan Co-op, where he took his General Manager training. Upon completion, Patrick assumed General Manager positions at Vegreville Co-op and later Viking Co-op before becoming Retail Advisor in the Edmonton Region. Patrick then went on to serve as General Manager at Riverbend Co-op and then General Manager of Battleford and District Co-op.
Patrick brings extensive retail experience, a sound understanding of the CRS and FCL, and a track record of leading people to build a culture of collaboration, focus and performance.
In his new role, Patrick will contribute to the strategic direction and management of FCL and its subsidiaries, be a strong advocate and role model for FCL’s values, vision, mission and brand, and provide executive leadership and direction to the Retail Operations Business Unit.
- The appointment of Ron Healey to the position of Vice-President Ag and Consumer Business is effective July 3, 2018.
Since 2012, Ron has been FCL’s Associate Vice-President, Ag and Home, and has led the Home and Building Solutions, Crop Supplies, Fertilizer and Feed Departments. After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce, Ron began his career with Archer Daniels Midland Company. In 1998, he joined FCL as a Retail Sales Co-ordinator in the Edmonton Region.
After leaving FCL to obtain his MBA from the University of Alberta, Ron re-joined FCL in 2002 as Human Resources Manager in the Edmonton Region. He moved to FCL’s Home Office in 2003 as a Marketing Manager, then Crop Protection Manager and Crop Supplies Director prior to becoming Associate Vice-President Ag and Home in 2012.
Throughout his career, Ron has led with vision and has executed strategies to grow the business and build high-performing teams. In his new role, Ron will contribute to the strategic direction and management of FCL and its subsidiaries, be a strong advocate and role model for FCL’s values, vision, mission and brand, and provide executive leadership and direction to the Ag and Consumer Business Unit.
