Steffen Olsen of Rimbey, Alta., was elected to the FCL Board of Directors in 2015. He represents the nine retail co-operatives in FCL’s district 2, which covers west-central Alberta.
As an FCL Director, Steffen serves as the Edmonton Region Chair and is a member of the Board’s Governance and Sustainability Committees. In addition, he is the Board’s representative to Alberta Community and Co-operative Association, The Co-operators and the Goldeye Foundation.
Steffen was a member of the Rimbey Co-op Board from 2003 until 2016 and served 10 years as the Board Chair.
His educational background includes an Agriculture Certificate from Denmark, an Agriculture Diploma from Lakeland College and a Journeyman Carpenter’s Diploma from Red Deer College.
An active member of his community, Steffen is currently on the Executive of the Rimbey Lions Club, the Town of Rimbey Sustainability Advisory Committee, the Chamber of Commerce and the local gas co-op.
Steffen and his wife Gwen operate a ranch, construction company and tree farm. They also manage a 41-site campground as the Chairs of the Rimbey Lions Campground Committee. They have three children and four grandchildren.
